Research Hub

Government decisions shape our future. And we get to shape our government. When you cast your vote, you’re helping to decide the future of our communities, country and planet - so make sure you cast it wisely.

We're building a tool that will make it quick and easy to get election ready, but for those who can't wait, or want to dig a little deeper (our favourite kind of people), we've broken down everything you need to know about doing your research.

A step by step guide to doing your research...

At the upcoming federal election, you’ll be voting for two things:

  • Who will represent your local area (your electorate) in the House of Representatives
  • Who will represent your state in the Senate

When you go to vote, you’ll be given two separate ballot papers: a small one for the House of Representatives and a giant one for the Senate (seriously, it’s so big).

PS - want to understand more about how our government works? Head to Elections 101!

To make sure your vote actually reflects your values, here’s what you’re going to do…

Grab a copy of our Ballot Breakdown spreadsheet, find a piece of paper or open a fresh word doc - get ready to take notes.
